Finca
Ninfas del Agua - the water nymphs of Alfara de Carlas
"A fascinating place situated in a most beautiful location"
A&P June 2007
|
Come and
stay for a very much "home from home" comfort, in very welcoming
accommodation in the panoramic Els Ports Natural Park of Catalonia.
Anthony
and Christine feel caring for their guests needs are of paramount
importance. Anthony comes from a background of Hotel Management
and truly understands the hospitality environment.
They are
11kms from Tortosa (15 minutes in the car) passing Els Regeurs
(4kms) on the way. Further on is the village of Alfara de
Carlas (5kms).

Finca
Ninfas del Agua offers a two bedroom, non-smoking apartment
located on the first floor of the owners "casa" ( Maximum
occupancy of 5 people). The bedrooms are comfortably furnished
with a private balcony leading off the main bedroom. The spacious
separate bathroom has a shower. There is a very large kitchen,
with fridge freezer, ample units and beautiful crockery and
a proper cooker ( hob and oven). Also, your own juicer to
enjoy fresh orange juice picked off their own orange trees
in season to quench your thirst or revive you all in the mornings.
The living
room has antique polished Spanish dining room suite and display
units. Sink into comfy seats. Enjoy the log burner. The apartment
also has both air conditioning and heating, according to your
preference. This lovely large room has a wide choice of books,
videos and a music system. No need to miss your favourite
programs, as they have English satellite television with a
DVD and VCR. If you need to check on emails, the owner's internet
access downstairs is available.

|
Step outside
into the quiet garden and you have a swimming pool (shared
with owners) of 1.2 meter's deep to submerge in from April
to October along with a choice of 3 BBQ´s.
There
is an amazing "Garden Living Room"(fly-free) for you to escape
into for coolness if needed. Eat "el fresco" at a table in
there and "outside" kitchen facilities and another large fridge,
ideal to keep the drinks cool all summer for you. The outdoor
aviary across from it, should be completed for the summer.

Walk
down to greet the mountains
|
Wander
on further down the old olives and orange grove (114!!) set
amongst stunning mountain scenery backdrop, that you feel
you could almost reach out and touch. But there are tasteful
clearings amongst the orchards scattered about the small holding,
where you will find quiet secluded places to sit, read, relax, sunbathe,
write or paint. Separate areas for swings and slides for laughter
filled hours. Christine encourages you to pick and eat whatever
is in season: grapes, hazelnuts, peaches, apricots, home grown
veggies, etc.
A badminton
court is tucked away in the bottom corner and a boules court
is promised for summer, for those not wanting to venture far.
Families are very welcomed, but neither cots nor high chairs
are provided. All linen, gas and electricity are include within
the Euro tariff. Just pack your own swimming pool towels
|
| Let
us take the strain out your first few hours after arrival and
do your "first shop" ahead of you touching base. Send us a list
and the owners will have everything in for you on your arrival.
Just settle up with them when you get there.
Arriving
late at night or on Sundays and fiestas you will find the
supermarkets are closed though the owners do provide a welcome
starter pack free of charge. Christine also offers a washing
and ironing service for a nominal fee. So just put your feet
up and count the water nymphs eagles or ibex.

Finca
Ninfas del Agua is ideally situated on a Michelin designated
scenic route between the two small, but friendly towns of
Els Regeurs and Alfara de Carles, at the foot of the Els Ports
mountains. The area is well known across Europe and the States,
for its walking with many tracks being suitable for general
rambling, whilst others are well sign-posted routes to places
of interest. Access to the GR7 (Gran Randonere) walking route
is just a few miles further up the road and goes from Tosca
to Caro for the keener and more intrepid hiker.
At Font
Tosca (about 4 kms away) you have the choice of two very palatable
restaurants that are open on the weekends. There is the Restaurant
Mur with its bull ring where they have the "bull runs" that
you can watch or take part during the Fiesta Major in August.
Around 5.30 pm, the Ibex come down from the mountain heights,
proudly surveying their ravine. A site to marvel at from the
Ninfas del Agua!

Your host,
Anthony is a keen walker and doesn´t charge to take guests
on walks. One of his favourite is the walk to Font Nova where
there is the oldest and protected pine tree known in Catalonia.
During spring and autumn you will encounter wandering shepherds
with their sheep and goats idling along the paths.
Or he
will drive you nearer the Mont Caro and take you on the Caramella
walk, where you will be delighted with wonderful views and
breath taking bird watching moments of vultures and eagles
soaring overhead.

Thirty
minutes by car and you will discover wonderful family safe,
sandy beaches located down on the Ebro Delta Natural Park,
which is at the southern end of the Costa Daurada. This area
is also very popular for birdwatching, fishing, rambling,
boating and even windsurfing is done on the Carlos de la Rapida
side,as well as triathlons. See the coastal
guide.
If you
fancy a change from all the greenery and would like to try
a day or two fishing for the Giant Carp and huge Wells Cats,
we can arrange that with a choice of very experienced river
and delta estuary fishing guides. These prices are supplied
on enquiry and a Catalonian fishing licence is required. Furnish
us with copies of passports 6 weeks before and we charge a
fee of 20 euros per licence. These guides need to be booked
in advance and the payments are separate from the Finca Ninfas
rental fees.
